Fun Crochet Patterns

Today was a good day for free crochet patterns! Honestly, I liked both of them. :) I'd like to make one for a gift. And the other for me.

This is the Katina's Bedtime Set. From Free Patterns. I think it would be a nice gift for a little girl.

And Springtime Coasters from Free Crochet.

If you like these patterns, you should head over to Free Patterns and Free Crochet. These are both the "patterns of the day."

Spring Break

Spring break is officially here! Thank goodness. I felt like it would never get here. Maybe I'm just anxious to end my last semester. I don't know.

But my hubby has also managed to get some time off of work. We're headed to our hometown this afternoon. Just for the weekend. We want to spend some time with our families and friends. Then we're planning some much needed time, to relax too. And hopefully a small trip to the mountains.

I'm definitely not your "typical college student." No crazy parties for me. No insane Spring Break trips. But I plan on lots of time with my hubby. To me, that's the perfect way to spend my week off of school! :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you!

We're not the "crazy, beer drinking, partying" kind of people. Nor are we Irish. But I think St. Patrick's Day is a fun holiday.

We don't have any big plans. Just a fun "green" themed meal after church tonight. And of course, I picked out the perfect green outfit. Other than that, we're pretty low key. Maybe I'll convince my hubby to go shopping for some flowers for our yard. After our tough winter, we need to give our yard a lot of TLC!

I've Got Fettuccine Alfredo on My Mind

Fettuccine Alfredo. It's been on my mind. Ridiculously so! I've actually been dreaming about it. No lie! So when I seen that Kasey had posted a video about it, I was so excited!

Doesn't this look super easy to make? And delicious too! You can bet your life on it, I'm making this for dinner soon. I just need to pick up a few things at the store. I can't wait. :)

Will They?

Do you think they'll make it? And by them, I'm talking about Emily and Brad from the Bachelor. And by make it, I mean...will they get married?

I made my hubby watch with me last night. I only watched the last few episodes. I don't know everything about their relationship. Or their past or whatever. I'm not a true viewer of the Bachelor. But I'm just not sure. I don't think they're going to make it.

I had high hopes going into last nights' episode. But with all the questions that Brad was avoiding, before the proposal, and the fact that this is the Bachelor...oh, and the "After the Final Rose" show...I just don't think they'll make it.

Emily and Brad just seem to be on 2 different pages. With different agendas. At different points of their lives. I think Emily might have a lot to lose if they were to get married. I don't think she's ready for marriage. And Mr. Brad, well I think he's ready. But maybe needs to be in a "real relationship" for a while.

And maybe I'm wrong. But it's how I feel. I think their age differences are also an issue. I'm thinking that Emily "won" because she was the most mature of the women on the show. I think that's what Brad is looking for. Someone to "settle down" with. But I just don't think this is going to last. What do you think?

Praying for Japan

My heart is just breaking. Watching all the action unfold on TV. It's just devastating. It makes you thank your lucky stars that you are safe. My prayers, thoughts, and love go out to everyone in Japan. I just can't imagine what all of these people are feeling right now. So incredibly sad.

Fun!

Lola and Manders are hosting a "Crochet Along." For this cute Amigurumi Bunny Basket. It's just too adorable! I can't wait to start. I signed up. And so can you. Just leave them a comment on their blogs, or email them. Don't forget to print the pattern, and buy the supplies. The "Crochet Along" begins on March 14th. I just can't wait!

Ash Wednesday

Today is Ash Wednesday. I already feel more "connected." You know, with both my religion, and myself. It's crazy how this day, every year, does this to me.

My hubby and I are looking at Lent a little differently this year. We really want to make a difference in other people's lives. To do good. To be more "good hearted." And in the moment.

We have a list of things that we want to accomplish. And I'm really excited! I can just tell, we're going to grow so much during this Lenten season. :)

Gardenias

I'm sorta in love with Gardenias at the moment. And I want to plant some in our yard. Now that we're coming to terms with the plants, that didn't make it during the Winter Freeze of 2011, we need to plant some new things. And on the top of my list, is gardenias.

I never realized how much I really love these flowers. But my prima has always had some planted in her yard. And they are just gorgeous! They have a beautiful scent. And after looking at some of my favorite perfumes, I'm realizing just how much I love these flowers.

Now I just need to find some. My prima said that she bought hers a few years ago. At Wal-Mart. Who would have thought? But I didn't find any when I went this past week. It might be too early in the season. And since we live in a small town, we're limited to stores that sell flowers. So let's hope I find some soon!

Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras. Is it me, or did Mardi Gras come around really quickly this year? I know, it's weeks later than last year. But it still feels like just yesterday we were celebrating this very day!

This year, my hubby and I aren't really giving up food. More of wanting to do good deeds during Lent. Let's not be fooled, it's not going to be any easier. But I think it will be more fulfilling.

And tonight, we're just going to have some friends over. A fun dinner, a little dressing up, and hopefully a whole lot of laughs! What are your plans for the "Big Day of Sins?"

One By One

So earlier this week, I went to Wal-Mart. And I was in search. Of what? I'm still not sure. But I came face to face with a display. Of Maybelline's new mascara. One by One. The tube was really calling my name. So I bought it.

I had no good reason to buy it. Other than, it looked interesting. So I bought it. It's only been a few days now, but I really do love this product. I have a feeling, I just found my new favorite mascara. You know, that "life changing" moment. Come on ladies, you have to know what I'm talking about.

This mascara both lengthens and thickens my lashes. It doesn't clump. Or smear. And I can use it on both my upper and lower lashes. It's perfection in a tube!

Gladiolus

I have to admit this, I never really thought about planting gladiolus. Never. Not once. It's not that I'm a flower snub or anything. I just never thought about them. Then, last year, when my hubby went to go water our prima's flowers, I saw them. She had so many growing. All different colors. Growing in mass bunches.

I fell in love. And I asked Fern what they were. He wasn't sure. So I called my prima. Who quickly let me know, that they are gladiolus. And she said that they quickly multiply like lirios (Iris.)

So I waited and waited. Until today. I found a big bag a Wal-Mart. I'm telling you, I never realized some of the great plants that they sell there. I got 20 bulbs, for $5! Awesome! And they are mixed colors. You could buy a single color. But I just think, half of the beauty, is the gorgeous colors! Let's see what happens. I planted them tonight. And they're supposed to bloom in July.

My New Chair

This is my new chair. I've been having some major back issues lately. And I really needed a new chair for my desk. So when I came home to find this beautiful chair sitting at my desk, I cried. Yes, I cried. That's a fact!

I had been looking at the chairs a few weeks ago, at Target. We have a Super Target about 90 minutes from where we live. And we went to look around. I seen this beauty, and really wanted it. But we're trying to save some money. So I past. And honestly, I was sad about it.

My hubby is just amazing. After work, he went and bought it. :) And he managed to put it together while I was in a study session. I was so excited when I got home. And this chair is not just pretty, it's super comfy! Oh, it's just love!

Miss Emily

Let me just start this off with, I NEVER watch the Bachelor. Ever! But a few weeks ago, I caught a Morning Talk Show. I don't remember which one. But they were talking about Emily Meynard from The Bachelor. And I just had to stop dead in my tracks. She is just perfect!

Seriously, how does one look like this? I'm not sure. But she is just stunning! And her teeth, they are just perfect. I don't know if those are her real teeth, or veneers. But they are perfect. My hubby told me that some of it is air brushing. But after watching a clip on YouTube, she is really a stunning woman.

So I just might have to watch an episode or 2. Because I really like her style. I know, these women are probably working with a stylist. But seriously, I want her wardrobe. Or at least pieces of it. And I want her beauty secrets. Because lately, I've been feeling really cruddy. Like I'm in a rut or something. I could use some help.

What do you think? Do you have any beauty or style secrets that you could share with me? I'd really like to know. Because I'm seriously feeling pretty down. Maybe it's just the weather...

Happy Birthday Tio!

I just wanted to wish my Tio a very Happy Birthday today!

He's had such a tough few months. And we were not sure if he'd see another birthday. It makes today that much more special. What an amazing day! I'm so happy to have my Tio still with us. Getting stronger and healthier every day. It's truly a miracle straight from God. :) Feliz Cumpleanos Tio!

Black Diamonds and SATC2

My hubby recently bought me the SATC2 movie. And I have to say it...I LOVED it! It wasn't as good as the first, but it was still a good movie. Or maybe I was just in need of some good "Gal Time." But it was such a good watch.

And at the end, Big gives Carrie a ring. Black diamond ring. I was in love! I don't know why. But it just seems so amazing. Yes, I said it. It's gorgeous! Something like this...

Maybe my hubby will get me something with black diamonds for our Anniversary. Maybe for our 10th. You know, something special like that. I would just love it! It's not my "usual style." But it's so beautiful!

Avocado Tree

We've been looking for a place to buy an avocado tree. I know that we've been debating this for some time now. As in years. But after a lot of thought, and talking, my hubby and I want to buy an avocado tree.

We figure that we live somewhere that's warm enough for the tree to not only survive, but thrive. And eat a lot of avocados. Maybe in the long run, this move will save us some money. Hopefully!

We just need to find a place that sells them. No place locally sells avocado trees. And they won't order them. And I'm not having much luck online. But 'm hopeful. Now back to my search!

Home Parisienne Collection

A few years ago, Target had this gorgeous collection. But my hubby and I weren't looking to buy outdoor furniture. We didn't own a home. We were living in student housing on campus. And well, it just wasn't on our radar. But I remember really liking the set. And I saved the pictures on my computer. You know, for the day when we would be looking.

This is the bistro set. Perfect for our little garden area, off of our bedroom. It's just a little space, right outside our French doors.

This amazing Dining Set. Perfect for BBQs, and just when we have people over!

And lastly, the conversational/lounge furniture. I really do like this set!

There is something about the style of this set. I really like it. The wrought iron. The color and size of the cushions. But you know it. Now that we are looking for some good outdoor furniture, Target no longer sells this set.

But we still want to buy something similar. I've looked high and low. And I just can't find anything. We want a full set that matches. We don't mind buying it in sections. That's the way Target once sold it. But we want something that matches across the board. Can you help? If you've seen something similar, can you leave me a message? Or sent me an email. Thanks!

Happy Love Day!

I just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Valentine's Day! My hubby and I celebrated over the weekend. With a special little trip. We rented a cabin in the mountains. And just "hung out." It was so nice to get away for a few days. With no stress. Or urgent feelings to do all kinds of things.

Tonight, we're going to watch a movie, and have a simple meal. Doesn't that just sound so amazing? I think so. It's something that we should do more often. Just enjoy each other's company. And we're going to do that tonight. :)

The Big Freeze

We're in the middle of the "Big Freeze" around here. It's actually a really big deal. Being that we live in the desert. And we now have between 6-12 inches of snow in our yard. No lie! Our back yard is a little ridiculous at the moment.

The temperatures are ridiculously cold. There is a gas shortage. As in natural gas, for heat. And we are in the middle of "Rolling Blackouts." Because we have 2 power grids that our down. Our electricity is now coming from a neighboring state. It's pretty bad.

We didn't have time enough to cover up our plants. So I hope they make it. My hubby was out in the snow storm last night, covering up pipes. It came that quickly! And luckily, thus far, we haven't had frozen or busted pipes. Thank goodness!

But everything around us is closed. Like I said, we live in the desert. We have no snow plows. No salt trucks. Nothing. It's bad. Funny how we got more snow than our hometown. Which is a few hundred miles north of us. They're used to the snow. Equipped to handle it. But still our state is literally in a "State of the Emergency" situation.

So my hubby and I are "hunkering down" for the next few days. School, work, all that good stuff, has been cancelled! So we're going to watch some movies. Figure out a way to make some dinner. And I'll probably get a lot of crocheting done.

I'm just glad that our pantry is fully stocked. And we're relatively well off. You know, in this situation. We're also considered "northerners" around here. So we're used to snow and cold temperatures. Even if it's -10 outside! What else can we do? Just try and survive, to the best of our abilities.

Mother Nature is just trying to keep us on our toes!
